2ND WINTER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 27 November 2011

20th November 2011 was a dank, foggy day that saw 14 LAS anglers turn out for the 2nd Winter League match that was switched from the river to Bayliss Pools. Although the weather was damp, the fishing was certainly much brighter. Winner was Adam Barsby, from Jayne's Tackle, with an impressive bream haul of 61 Lbs 6 Ozs taken on pellet and feeder close to the island. Second was Ken Arnold with 47 Lbs 5 Ozs again taken close to the island with feeder tactics, but this time with maggot as hook bait. Third was Carl Pavey who used pellet and feeder to put 41 Lbs 4 Ozs on the scales. This now means that Carl Pavey and Ken Arnold tie on penalty points with 5 a piece, but Carl just has his nose in front on weight. It's good to see Eric Rimmer in third after making the trip from the Wirral with 9 penalty points. It's only the best 4 results to count from the 6 match series and next Sunday, 4th December, sees the 3rd round at Aston Eyre Pool. This will be the last match in 2011, as the final three rounds are to be fished in the New Year. Click on the link below to see the full result.

FIRST WINTER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 7 November 2011

Although there was the first frost of the Autumn over night, Sunday 6 November ended up being a bright sunny and warm (for November!) day. The twelve anglers who turned out for the first Winter League met a nicely coloured and slightly higher than of late river. After a slow start Gary Stinton ended up winning the match from peg 105. His first "bonus" fish was a 2 Lbs bream! This was the last thing he expected to take his maggot bait. Then, after a switch to the pellet, he took 3 good barbel, the biggest was over 7 Lbs. Total weight 19 Lbs 5 Ozs. How do I know this detail? Well, I was on peg 103 and had plenty of time to watch Gary as I did not have one proper bite all day! Second, from peg 75, was Carl Pavey with 3 barbel for 18 Lbs 8 Ozs. Third was Ken Arnold with one barbel from peg 74 for 5 Lbs 11 Ozs. For the full results click on the link.

The next match in the series is on 20 November on the river - provided it is not over its banks. Otherwise it will be on Bayliss Pools.
