I have been advised by the Environment Agency that there is a serious problem affecting all waters in the UK. It concerns an invasive shrimp that is a killer. It was first found in the River Severn in September 2012. Please go to www.nonnativespecies.org/alerts/killershrimp for further information.
Precautions to be taken by all water users are:
1. CHECK your equipment and clothing/footwear for live organisms – particularly in areas that are damp or hard to inspect.
2. CLEAN and wash all equipment, footwear and clothing thoroughly.
3. DRY all equipment and clothing – some species can live for many days in moist conditions.
If you do come across any organisms, leave them at the water where you found them.

The fourth round of the Winter League 2012/13 scheduled to be fished on 13 January 2013 at Quarry Pool, Aston Eyre had to be postponed due to severe weather that potentially could have caused the pool to freeze. The match was re-scheduled for Sunday 20 January, but that too was a very cold and snowy day, so it has now been postponed until 3 February. Fingers crossed!
The planned 5th round on the Shropshire Union Canal will go ahead on 27 January, weather providing. Meet at the Junction Inn, Norbury for breakfast from 0800 Hrs, draw at 0900 Hrs. Fish 1030 to 1530 Hrs.
