With some of the top rods missing, this low turn-out match was won from the longest walk on the river, peg 97, by Clive Biddulph with the biggest bag of the year so far, 60 Lbs 13 Ozs consisting of 13 barbel. Second was Nick Bastock with 17 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 8 and third was Gordon Bradley from peg 102 with 14 Lbs 14 Ozs. This means that at the half way stage, Graham Jones has snuck into first position, pipping previous leader Will Carr by one point with 33. Will is second on 32 and Nick Bastock third on 28. So, with 5 more matches to go, can any of the top 3 afford to miss any of them? Read about it here first.

After a really unusually wet and windy couple of weeks, the weather settled down and the river looked good, but the 20 anglers who turned out for this match struggled to find the fish. The general consensus was that the barbel were spawning late. However, from one of the longest walks on the river, Peg 97, Nick Bastock managed to put the winning weight of just 11 Lbs 3 Ozs on the scales. Second, from Peg 75 with 8 Lbs 13 Ozs was Paul Harrison and third, just next door on Peg 76, was Graham Jones with 8 Lbs 9 Ozs. However, our Match Secretary, Will Carr, still maintains overall first place in the league with 27 points, since he has a massive weight advantage of 70 Lbs over Graham Jones 44 Lbs even though Graham has 27 points too. Nick Bastock is in third with 19 points, but there are still 6 matches to go, so it's wide open. For the full result, please click on the link.
