SUMMER LEAGUE - MATCH 7 RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 22 September 2022

Round 7 of the Leighton Summer League; with temperatures a little bit cooler, longer hours of darkness and the beginning of autumn, the fishing was expected be decent, but with a crystal-clear river, an absence of chub and just a very odd bream caught, it was only the noted barbel pegs that produced the top weights in 'the big one' (double pools money) event.

Mick Woolvine made no mistake from peg 102, fishing ledgered meat and feeding heavily with hemp and caster, he caught five barbel for a match winning 33lb 2oz.

Just above on peg 97, John Marshall landed seven barbel for 28lb, fishing feeder with hemp and caster to take second place. Peg, 88 was drawn by Simon Tuff who netted a level 24lb of small barbel, again on feeder with hemp and caster, for third spot. The peg above, 87, not really a fancied peg, but ever consistent Graham Jones found 23lb 12oz, including a last gasp 9lb barbel to go with another smaller barbel, both taken on ledgered meat and some stick float caught dace to settle fourth spot and the last of the pools money. BOOK IN FOR BREAKFAST!

by Bernie Jones 20 September 2022

Will all members who plan to fish next Sunday’s match (25 September) please book a breakfast with Will Carr by calling or texting 07903 505123. If we don’t get at least 12 of us booked in it’s not worth Gareth doing breakfasts for us. So please use this great service or we’ll lose it. Also, there will be a free Beatles Tribute Band at the pub from 4 - 7pm and as a special treat Gareth will be doing burgers instead of the usual sandwiches. So, again, please come back afterwards to support this and get a really good free burger into the bargain!
