8th SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 24 September 2012

The 8th match of the 10 match series, fished on 23 September 2012 is the "Float Only" match. I know that this puts off some of the feeder men, but it is something that has been a tradition in LAS for many years and lets those with float skills show what they can do. In this case Ken Arnold really did this in style, by completely trouncing the 18 man field with a splendid catch of 4 chub, one barbel and two good roach from Peg 5 for a weight of 24 Lbs 5 Ozs. Ken waded out about a third of the way and used waggler and maggot (with just one on the hook) for his impressive haul. Second was Adam Barsby from Peg 76 with a weight of 11 Lbs 5 Ozs and third was Nick Bastock from Peg 35 with 5 Lbs 14 Ozs.

The Club Championship is getting tighter now with leader, Dave Hopwood, only managing 3 points in this match, briging his total to 42, just 5 in front of Graham Jones on 37 and third placed man Adam Barsby who has closed the gap with 34 points. With just two matches to go now, it's looking like one of these three anglers is going to do it. Please click on the link to see the full result. Also there is a shot of the weigh in for Ken Arnold (Ken ison the right) with Nick Bastock on the scales, with an interested Reg Ford looking on. Again, just click on the link.

7th SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 11 September 2012

Again, although I was not able to attend this match, it seems to have fished pretty well. Winner was Gary Stinton from peg 88 with 42 Lbs 11 Ozs, second was Graham Jones from peg 48 with 13 Lbs 1 Oz, third was Dave Hopwood from peg 104 with 10 Lbs 8 Ozs and fourth was Eric Rimmer from peg 72 with 9 Lbs 12 Ozs. Dave Hopwood has extended his lead a little now with a 6 point gap to second placed man Graham Jones. Mark Carr is just a further 3 points further back and then we have 3 anglers, Gary Stinton, Dave Upton and Adam Barsby tying for 4th place on 25 points and only 8 points away from third. With the Float Only match to come next and then 2 further matches remaining in the series, it's anybody's still to take. Please click on the link for the full result.

by Bernie Jones 11 September 2012

Apologies for short notice but please be informed that Weston-under-Lizard are holding their annual ‘Bill Corbett Open’ this coming Sunday 16th September 2012 at Tong Mere, Norton (just off J3 M54). Draw is at 08:00, fish 09:30 to 14:30. Pools £10 per head, which all goes into prize money, payments for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

This is a lovely venue which can fish very well on its day with big bags of large bream. All LAS members are welcome and their usual policy of peg fees has been waived.

Please let me know (call or text) if you are intending to fish as I need to give Ade Wheeler our numbers by Saturday. Also feel free to let other likely interested members that I don't have access to the Internet.

6th SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 7 September 2012

As I was not able to fish the 6th match, I can only report the following:

Jason Owen won the match from peg 95 with 35 Lbs 13 Ozs, second from peg 105 was Ian Brewis with 27 Lbs 10 Ozs, third from peg 102 was Carl Pavey with 26 Lbs 14 Ozs (including a barbel that was exactly 10 Lbs), fourth was Dave Upton from peg 76 with 18 Lbs, 5th was Carl Duckett from peg 35 with 17 Lbs 8 Ozs, sixth was 75 was Gary Stinton from peg with 15 Lbs and seventh from peg 22 was Pat Nolan with 11 Lbs 9 Ozs.

It is still very tight at the top of the table, with 6 anglers having just 6 points difference. For the full result and league postions click on the link below.
