Rex Key's hunt for his elusive first salmon continues. However, he did by way of compensation, enjoy landing this hard-fighting barbel which picked up his bunch of worms on June 19. He crossed his fingers that he had hooked a double-figure fish and, yes, the digital scales showed 10 Lbs 1 Oz – but his joy was short-lived as he then remembered the net weighed 1 lb! Close, but not quite a double. So, his quest for either his first salmon or a "double" barbel goes on.

ALL MATCH ANGLERS TO PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
After our first match on the river yesterday we learned how to weigh-in whilst meeting Covid-19 restrictions. This went quite well but to improve things further and keep everyone as safe as possible, all other matches from now on will require everyone to wear face coverings and gloves at the weigh-in. If you could supply your own this would help, but a limited supply will be available for those anglers who don't bring them.
Anyone who feels unwell, or is recovering from the virus SHOULD NOT ATTEND THE MATCHES. This will ensure the safety of others, so please respect this requirement.

All members intending to fish this first match under the Covid-19 restrictions MUST book in by notifying our Match Secretary, Will Carr, by no later than 2000 Hrs Saturday 20th June. Will's number is 07903 505123.
Depending on the number of members that turn up, there is a 50/50 chance that this match could be fished solely in Cressage Meadow, Pegs 1-35. This is because weighing in will be difficult without a tripod to suspend the weigh bucket and carrying the tripod and bucket to other pegs will be tremendously onerous.
Could all members please bring their £10 pools money in an envelope, which will be placed into a box, whilst maintaining social distancing (2 metres). Please read the blog below about fishing matches under these "new normal" rules.
