8TH SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 29 September 2016

This was the newly introduced second Float Only match and proved to be very interesting, with some good weights of mostly good sized dace and roach, with chub thrown in for good measure that were brought to the scales. But it was that man again, Graham Jones, who topped the list with a very good weight of 19 Lbs 2 Ozs from peg 88 (which had not produced much until this match). Second was Nick Bastock from peg 77 with 17 Lbs 8 Ozs and third was Will Carr with 12 Lbs dead from peg 27. Will really should have won this match, but lost a good barble on the stick float after playing it for 10 minutes. Worthy of mention was 4th placed man, Craig Cope, who caught 150 fish for 11 Lbs 10 Ozs from peg 3. This just goes to show that there is good sport to be had by fishing the float!

The league position is looking like it will be yet another win for Graham Jones, as he now has 52 points and Nick Bastock and Will Carr are tied in second place on 41; although Nick has a better aggregate weight. So unless Graham can be stopped in the remaining 2 matches he will walk it - yet again!

WINTER LEAGUE 2016/17

by Bernie Jones 12 September 2016

At the next match on 25 September, our Match Secretary, Will Carr, will be taking £20 from those anglers who wish to fish the Winter League this year. This money will be a pool and will be paid out at the end of the 7 match series in the proportion 50%, 30% and 20%. Places are limited to enable the best venues to be booked, so please make sure you pay him then. First come, first served!

7TH SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 12 September 2016

The river was already up and a bit coloured for the start of this match; but it came up almost another foot in the 5 hour session too. This made it a bit difficult to keep the fish feeding and the top 3 places were all taken by those anglers who stuck it out to the very end, as they all caught late on. First was that man again, Colin Morris with a good weight for the day of 26 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 102. This was just 4 fish and if he had managed to land the two that the hook pulled out of in the last 20 minutes, it would have been a much better bag. A well-deserved second place went to Ray Armstrong from peg 118, with a weight of 24 Lbs 12 Ozs and in third from fancied peg 113 was Ken Arnold with 22 Lbs 8 Ozs. But Graham Jones managed a very good bag of dace, chublets and bleak (towards the end) to put 21 Lbs on the scales for 4th place and so retains the lead of the league with 42 points. Will Carr unfortunately blanked, but stays second on 33 and Nick Bastock managed just 4 more points to scrape into third place on 32. With the next match being the second float only, there is everything to fish for. But will anyone catch Graham Jones? Read it here first, if you don't come to the match. 6TH SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 9 September 2016

The river was a bit lower and running off after heavy rain in the week before, so hopes were high for a good match. In the end Colin Morris bagged 44 Lbs 4 Ozs from peg 25 (don't you wish you had been there Pat!) for first place, Second with 26 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 95 was Clive Biddulph and third place went to Kevin Nicholls from peg 13 with 15 Lbs. So, all in all, the river fished pretty well. It was good to see Reg Ford at this match, making his return after a 3 year absence due to ill health. Not lost any of his angling ability though as he finished in the points too! For the full result, click on the link.
