SUMMER LEAGUE RESULTS - MATCH 5 & 6

by Bernie Jones 28 August 2018

Sunday 12th August dawned with a grey and threatening sky and rain was in the forecast. So all 16 anglers that contested match 5 took brollies to the bank. However, whist a few spots did fall, it never amounted to much after all and the humid somewhat sticky conditions prevailed. In the end it was the leader of the league, Paul Harrison, who managed to put an excellent 38 Lbs 8 Ozs on the scales from peg 97. Second, from fancied peg 9, was Paul Stych with 19 Lbs 12 Ozs, which narrowly beat Kev Nicholls into third spot with 19 Lbs 4 Ozs from peg 6.

Sunday 26th August was (apparently, as I was away for the Bank Holiday) the coldest summer day of the year with driving rain in the strong and gusty wind, according to our Match Secretary, Will Carr, who did, despite the conditions, manage to finish second with 15 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 97. This was not good enough to beat Clive Biddulph though, who put 19 Lbs 8 Ozs on the scales from peg 95 for the win. Third place went to Brian Tinman from his (now favourite!) peg 6 with exactly 15 Lbs.

This means that with 4 matches to go, Paul Harrison still leads the league with 50 points, Graham Jones is second with 42 and Clive Biddulph now moves into third place with 38. t's looking like the winner will most likely come from one of these three anglers now - unless there is a complete turn-round of events, which can happen!

SUMMER LEAGUE 2018 - MATCH 4 RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 13 August 2018

On a very humid, but wet morning, 17 anglers contested round 4 of our Summer League. Winner, from peg 88, with 12 Lbs 4 Ozs, was Paul Stych. Second from peg 8 with 11 Lbs exactly, was Paul Harrison and third, from peg 78 with 10 Lbs 4 Ozs, was Graham Jones. Maggot proved to be a good bait for most anglers, as the river was incredibly low after such a long, hot, dry spell, but pellet also scored for the odd bonus chub.

Paul Harrison now leads the field with 34 points and Graham Jones is second with 30. In third spot id Clive Biddulph with 28. With 6 matches to go, anything can, and probably will, happen!
