As there were only 9 members present at the AGM last night, some of you may be interested to see what went on!
Please find the minutes of the meeting attached.

Anyone planning to come to the AGM this Saturday? If you are, you need to know that there is a change of venue. The AGM will now have to be held at Buildwas Village Hall due to a complete cock-up with the people who do the bookings at Leighton Village Hall (despite me writing to them to book this last February!) If you come to Leighton Village Hall, I will wait there until 7:30 pm and escort anyone who turns up to Buildwas - just 5 minutes away by car.
So that's Buildwas Village Hall at 7:30 pm on Saturday 22 February 2014 for the Leighton Angling Society's AGM. Please tell everyone you can who does not have access to the Internet.

During the continuing extremely wet weather, the river Severn has been prevented from over-flowing its banks in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge by the flood barriers. This has meant that the water has been forced downstream to Leighton and Buildwas, resulting in the usual "Cressage Lake." This forced us to fish the final round of the 6 match Winter League series on Bayliss Pools. The overnight gales continued into the day and most of the 12 anglers who turned out had to rely upon the feeder, as float fishing was nigh impossible. Guest angler Bob Haig managed a superb bag of 41 Lbs 6 Ozs of bream to take the top spot, alternating between jelly pellets and dead red maggots on the hook. Second, but first in the Winter League, was Adam Barsby with exactly 22 Lbs of bream caught on a variety of baits, including bread, pellet, corn and maggots. Third, but second in the Winter League was Glyn Fidler with 15 Lbs 5 Ozs, using similar tactics. Fourth, but third in the Winter League was Bob Smith with 13 Lbs 6 Ozs taken from where Ken Arnold had practised in the week and had 24 bream. Bob said "I think Ken must have had all the easy fish to catch and left me to hunt for them!"
As is quite often the case with this series of matches, the overall league winner was so very close. By just one point this year's winner is Adam Barsby on just 8 penalty points, pushing his boss, Bob Smith from Jayne's Tackle, into second spot on 9! Third was Ken Arnold on 12, narrowly beating Dave Leary into fourth with 13. For the full result, click on the link below. Remember, it is only the four best penalty points results that count.
