by Bernie Jones 26 June 2018

The first Summer League match on the 17th June saw the river looking in perfect trim and there were quite a lot of fish caught throughout the pegged lengths. Eventual winner was Paul Harrison from peg 25 with 28 Lbs exactly. Second was Clive Biddulph from peg 121 with 20 Lbs 8 Ozs, third was Graham Jones with 16 Lbs 2 Ozs from peg 6 and fourth was Colin Morris from peg 95 with 12 Lbs exactly. WORK PARTIES

by Bernie Jones 10 June 2018

The two work parties to prepare the river for the new season were very poorly attended. The 3rd June one saw just 3 members and our Chairman work their socks off. Our Match Sectretary gave a couple of his employees a day off to work with him during last week and our Chairman gave another day in the week to do do more of the work necessary. I have just returned from the second work party today (10th June) where 7 other members gave of their time to clear all of the remaining pegs to enable YOU to fish the river. Keith, our vintage tractor driver, has put in over 16 hours to clear the bank tops too.

This has been extremely disappointing and if next year more of you don't come to lend a hand, we may have to introduce rules to only allow people to join the society if they do at least one day's bank clearing. We don't really want to go down this road, but with almost 200 members just 10 working very hard in really hot conditions to enable the rest of you to fish is hardly fair.

This does not, of course, apply to our disabled and infirm members.
