CORACLE DRIFT

by Bernie Jones 25 August 2021

I have just been informed by members Chris and Shirley Cottrill that on Saturday 18th September 0930 to 1430 Hrs there is a planned "Coracle Drift" event that will see these craft floating down the river from Cressage to Ironbridge. I know no more, but members are warned that this is bound to disrupt fishing.

SUMMER LEAGUE MATCH RESULTS

by Bernie Jones 18 August 2021

As our Match Secretary has been overwhelmed with work, here is a report on the 5th round of league fished on the 15th August 2021, produced by Paul Stych. Many thanks Paul!

Congratulations go to John Twamley who recorded his first Leighton AC match win. John peg 8 on the meadow, a nice catch of a level 20lb of chub caught on the waggler was just enough to beat Rob Jackson into second place. Rob caught 5 bream and some bits from Buildwas peg 106, casting a feeder to the far bank and alternating hookbaits for his 19lb 4oz net.
In third place was Colin Morris who caught some small barbel and a chub from peg 122 at Buildwas for a weight of 16lb 12oz. Current leader of the points league and a very consistent angler, Tony Kilmister finished in fourth place with a great net of dace, bleak and perch, finding some quality roach towards the end of the match. His net, all taken on the float from meadow peg 14.
Other notable catches on the fifth round included new member Kyle Cuthbert from Taylors peg 88, his 9lb 12oz catch included an estimated 3lb perch, but unfortunately the perch was not weighed separately as a specimen fish. Phil Williams caught a terrific summer chub of 5lb 7oz in his 10lb catch from peg 9 on the meadow, Ken Arnold put together a 12lb 12oz catch consisting of 4 bream from Buildwas peg 118 and Paul Harrison registered an almost all perch catch of 7lb 8oz from Buildwas 107.
