Can I please remind members to observe the Salmon Angling Etiquette when fishing our waters? The Salmon run down at the "Esses" is where most Salmon Anglers seek to fish. It is permitted to coarse fish here too, but if a Salmon angler then wishes to use this stretch, PLEASE move to another peg. Also, if you have been fishing for Salmon here, it is polite to offer to rotate and take turns with any other Salmon angler that also wishes to try his/her luck.
There is plenty of water for coarse anglers to fish, so please don't hog the one stretch that our few Salmon anglers wish to fish.

If you intend going "specimen hunting" please take an unhooking mat with you, if you wish to photograph your catch. There have been some recent incidents where big fish have been dropped of late and may have caused serious injury. Even using a mat to unhook your catch that you are immediately returning is a good idea too.

On a really warm Summer's day (after all the rain and wind!) the river had a little extra water on, but not sufficient to provide a lot of colour. However, some better weights resulted from this match. Winner, from peg 95, was Ken Arnold (again!) with 6 barbel and a chub for exactly 35 Lbs. Second, from peg 97, was our Match Secretary Will Carr with 6 smaller barbel for exactly 26 Lbs - pity you lost a couple Will! Then, in third place was Colin Morris from peg 75 with 24 Lbs 8 Ozs. This now means that at the League's half way stage Ken Arnold is starting pull in front with 42 points and Graham Jones is second with 33 and third is Colin Morris with 29. With 5 more matches to go and a maximum of 50 points up for grabs, Ken could be caught. But who will catch him? Watch out for the the result here. Click on the link for the full result to date.

The river had a little more water on after some rain, but not really enough to turn it on. There were a few showers, which made it quite cool for the time of the year. Fishing peg 18 Graham Jones ran out best rod on the day with a weight of 32 Lbs exactly. This consisted of 4 barbel and a chub taken on pellet. In second spot was Ken Arnold fishing a peg he knows well - 75 - and returned 26 Lbs exactly, 4 barbel taken on meat in the last 2 hours. In third place was Brian (I need an early draw!) Tinman who put 26 Lbs exactly on the scales from peg 6. There were some reasonable backing weights, considering the conditions, but once some of this rotten August weather puts a little more water into the river, it will produce some better returns. Ken Arnold is looking ominously like running away with yet another league win as he now has 32 points, but Graham Jones is giving him a run for his money, now on 27. In third place, it's good to see Colin Morris on 21 points. Who knows, with 6 more matches to go, the whole thing could turn around dramatically. Well, we can live in hope!
