The final match of the 2017 Summer League was fished on a very windy, but dry day that was mostly mild with broken cloud. The downstream wind made it impossible to fish the float in most pegs and the leaves on the river bed made it difficult for the fish to find a feeder fished bait. The resulting weights were therefore lower than normal at this time of the year. But it was Colin Morris that mastered the conditions in peg 118 and put 16 Lbs 4 Ozs on the scales. Second was Graham Jones from peg 81 with a chub taken early on and a good barbel taken in the last hour, for a weight of 10 Lbs exactly. Third place went to Brian (no sick note!) Tinman from peg 8 with 8 Lbs 14 Ozs. The battle for the overall winner of the league went down to the wire, with Ken Arnold finishing fourth, which was good enough to pip Graham Jones by 73 to 69 points. Just as well you decided to fish the 9th match Ken!

The first Winter League match is set to be fished on the river on 5 November. Let's hope there are no fishy fireworks that result!
