On a very still, mild day for 19th November, 17 anglers contested this second leg of the LAS Winter League fished on the finicky Hough pool, near Wem. Although there had been no frost, fish were hard to find, but local man (well he is since he bought his first pole last year!) Brian Tinman, showed us all how it is done by putting 8 Lbs exactly on the scales using bread punch fished against the margins. Second (I am pleased to say) was yours truly, with 5 Lbs 4 Ozs, using the long pole against the island and on the first step with mainly bread punch and some pinkies. Third was Ken Arnold with exactly 5 Lbs, again using the long pole with bread punch and pellet hook baits. This means that Brian now leads the league with 19 points, Ken is second with 18 and Clive Biddulph is third with 12. The next match, on 3rd December, will be on the Birches Pool at Melverly fishery and with another eight matches to go, there's everything to fish for. Click on the link for the full result.
