Well, 2018 is turning out to be quite a year for Paul Harrison, who just can't seem to draw a poor peg. The one to have for match 7 was definitely 97 and that's just what he drew - and capitalised on it by winning the match with 27 Lbs 4 Ozs, which consisted of 8 small barbel and a chub. Second, with a weight of 17 Lbs 8 Ozs taken from his favourite peg 5, was Brian Tinman and third with 16 Lbs 2 Ozs from difficult to get to peg 94, was Graham Jones. The river was still very low and clear and desperately needed some rain.
Due to our Match Secretary's work and holiday commitments, the 8th match was fished whilst he was taking a well earned rest in Greece (well someone had to I suppose!). The river got the rain it needed, but rather too much of it! With 2.7m above normal, a lot of anglers thought the match might be cancelled, so just 8 of us turned out in lovely warm sunny weather, whilst the river dropped through the match by over 30cm. All pegs were put in Cressage meadow and it was yours truly that ran out winner with 3 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 12, of mainly dace taken on the whip in mid-water. Second was that man again, Paul Harrison, from fancied peg 33 with 2 Lbs exactly and third with just 1 Lb 4 Ozs from peg 26 was Graham Jones.
It is starting to look like Paul is running away with the league on 69 points, with Graham in second on 58 and Clive Bidduph third with 44. Will Paul win? Or, will Graham catch him? Find out here.
