SUMMER LEAGUE RESULTS AFTER 3 ROUNDS

by Bernie Jones 17 July 2023
Thanks to Vince Pickup for posting the result sheet from yesterday's third round of the Summer League On facebook. The horrendous wind and heavy showers certainly made for difficult conditions for most anglers. Amazingly I managed to draw the same match winning peg as in round 2. Last time I won it with 64 Lbs, this time I weighed just 6 Ozs! It was a screaming downstream wind that made it rather like trying to float fish the North Sea. Anyway, enough of the excuses; it was great see Colin Booth win this one with a creditable 9 Lbs 8 Ozs from peg 10. He said after the match that his winning method was to fish for 45 minutes and then get out of the wind and rain for 15 minutes and drink a warming cuppa! I make that an extra hour and quarter he could have been fishing, but didn't need it. Well done Colin. Second from peg 108, was Steve Oliver with an even 9 Lbs, consisting mainly of good sized perch taken on red maggot run down the inside bank. Third was Tony Kilmister with 8 Lbs of "bits" from peg 103 and fourth place went to Pete Sturmey with 5 Lbs 10 Ozs from peg 106.
The League Table now looks like this:
POINTS MATCH 1 MATCH 2 MATCH 3 TOTAL
P STURMEY 9 7 16
D EVANS 6 8 14
B JONES 3 10 13
S OLIVER 4 9 13
S PRITCHARD 5 5 2 12
J RODGERS 6 6 12
R JACKSON 10 1 11
C BOOTH 10 10
G JONES 9 9
R STOKES 2 4 3 9
M WOOLVINE 1 7 8
L GOUGH 8 8
T KILMISTER 8 8
P HARRISON 7 7
P OWEN 1 6 7
P HARRISON 6 6
J OWEN 4 4
C BIDDULPH 3 3
N LAWRENCE 2 2

RIVER BANK WORK PARTIES

by Bernie Jones 29 May 2023

All members are reminded that 4th and 11th June 2023 are the dates for our two work parties to prepare the banks and pegs for the coming season. Meeet at Peg 2 in Cressage Meadow at 0900 Hrs and bring your own brush cutters/strimmers, spades, saws, scythes and anything else you think would help. The more of us there are, the less time it will take. Please remember to bring wellies/waders, gloves and any eye/ear protection if using machinery. Also, something to drink will probably be a good idea, although we will almost certainly get to the Mill at Leighton for a pint when finished. Hope to see you there!

2023 MEMBERSHIP CARDS

by Bernie Jones 5 January 2023

I have had problems getting the 2023 Membership Cards back from the printers. This has been caused by the postal strikes. For members that have sent me their cheques, I can only apologise and will send you your new cards ASAP as soon as I receive them. Anyone wanting to fish in the interim please ensure you have your 2022 card with you and, if challenged by one of our bailiffs or by another member, show your card and ask them to call me. I'll confirm that you have paid your subs. Thanks for your understanding.
